I'm a 27 year-old mother of two homeschooled children. My husband Ethan and I both grew up in Gainesville. We have wanted to have a farm since before we were married, and have only been farming (if it could be called that) for three years now. I lived for most of my childhood in Diamond Village while my parents got degrees at the University of Florida, where I met lots of wonderful friends from around the world, but pets were not allowed. I've made up for that now: We raise a rainbow egg laying flock that lays brown, white and green eggs, meat chickens, turkeys for the holidays, Gloucester Old Spot pigs, Nubian milking goats, Jersey cows, American Milking Devon cows, Muscovy ducks and meat rabbits. We also have a Great Pyrenees guard dog named Belle and a very round Calico cat named Teasel. Someone also gave us some perfectly useless guinea pigs that my children are attached to. We don't need any more animals.
I also have a seasonal garden in which I grow a variety of Heirloom and open-pollinated vegetables, and a neglected orchard which hasn't made much fruit yet.
